Available Dogs

Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.

I like my crate and I enjoy chewing on bones and sticks. I also like taking socks to my crate when nobody is looking. I'm a big puppy and scared of new situations and do best with a dog friend to help me feel safe. I love dogs but I can be occassionally selective. I want to play with cats but they don't understand my play bows. That's okay ! I'm pretty good at listening to corrections and giving smaller dogs and cats space if they want it.

General Socialization Notes:

I am playful, enthusiastic, energetic, and great in a car until I see a person or a person with a dog out the window, then you will hear my big bark. I react on a leash to people, dogs and wildlife and have been working on meeting people with one of my dog friends at my dog daycare. Play is my biggest reward and if I'm playing with one of my friend(s) I can be around new people with confidence. Once I trust a person, I'm very affectionate.

Does Zara like other animals?

I have been with dogs of all sizes off leash at daycare and at my foster home and done well, although I can be dog selective when the mood strikes me. I'm kissy with dogs and cats. I'm very interested in trying to get cats to play but when they won't I can eventually settle down and leave them alone.

Does Zara like kids?

I don't currently have any kids to play with, but with my enthusiasm, it might be best if I'm with kids over 8, just so everyone is safe in play.

Favorite Toys

Anything I can run with or chew on - from a stick to a tug toy. I like stuffed animals too.

Ideal Home

My ideal home would be one where I get regular attention, exercise and brain stimulation. I learn quickly and I know sit, down and offer an automatic sit at doors. I would be a great companion for another dog or dogs. Cats are good too. I need help on leash work but I have been practicing in the yard.
