Basic Dog Training Classes

Training helps teach dogs good manners, and builds mutual respect. Training through trust and cooperation strengthens the human-animal bond and helps you gain reliable control over your dog. Help your dog remain a part of your family for many years to come by teaching him the skills he needs to be a good citizen and family member. Come train with us and Have a Nice Dog!

Basic Curriculum

  • Puppy Kindergarten  6 weeks to 14 weeks of age  (7-week course)
    What your puppy experiences in her first 5 months shapes her reactions to the environment for the rest of her life. Don’t miss this critical stage of her development, puppy play sessions, noise desensitization, manners, potty training, and more.
  •  Puppy Elementary  15 weeks to 11 months of age (8-week course)                                                           Teaches you dog life-saving behaviors such as: sit, lie down, come when called, loose leash walking, go to your mat, emergency pay attention, hand target.  Aids in the prevention of problem behaviors including: jumping up, chewing, mouthing, barking, etc.
  •  Foundation Course  1 year old and up (8-week course)
    Teaches your dog life saving behaviors such as: sit, down, come when called, loose leash walking, go to your mat, emergency pay attention, hand target.Aids in the prevention of problem behaviors including: jumping up, chewing, mouthing, barking, etc
  •  American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen (4-week course)
    Required – completion of Canine Connection
    Includes preparation and testing for Canine Good Citizen, an AKC certification program.  CGC is a certification program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs by testing handler and dog teams on 10 items. 

 Clicker Curriculum

Clicker Curriculum refers to a method of training in which a sound marker, the click, is used to communicate with your dog, letting him know that he has correctly performed a behavior and will be rewarded. It is a highly effective method which focuses on motivating your dog and keeping him interested in training.
 
  • Canine Connection (8-week course)
    Required – completion of Puppy Elementary or Foundation Course
    Enhance your training skills while you work both inside and outside, learning new behaviors and building on the basic curriculum.   Canine Connections focuses on teaching you to read canine body language, recognize signs of stress and unlock the possibilities of training with the clicker.
  • Practical Perfection (8-week course)
    Required – completion of Canine Connection
    Furthers you and your dog’s education and perfects learned behaviors in preparation for specialized classes.
