Personality


I have a lot of spunk (i.e. attitude) for a dog my size. I like to lay in the sun or curl up in the blankets to keep myself warm and I have been know to curl up between my foster mom's neck and the back of the chair under her hair! I love to learn new things and am very motivated by food. I like being on the furniture and any place comfy, so don't be surprised to find me on your bed pillows.


Socialization


Does the dog like other pets?
I am interested in other dogs, but I do worry that the bigger ones with step on me or hurt me, so I usually hide from them. I keep trying to entice one of my foster-brothers (he's 9lbs) to play with me but does not care too much for my loud (barking and growling) play style. I make it very clear to the other dogs in my foster home, that all toys (and the best sleeping places) belong to me and they better not try and take them. I am scared of the kitty the lives at my foster home.

Does the dog like children?
I've only met older children (9 and 12) and I initially barked at them. After I stopped barking, I would take treats from them, but I would not let them touch me.

General Socialization Notes
I will need a special person to help me get over my handling issues - I don't like being touched by people I don't know and I don't like having my collar or harness messed with or having my nails cut. Currently my foster mom is teaching me to like to be touched. I can also guard my stuff from humans, so I will need help learning to give things up.

I like most toys and chewing items.


Forever Home


I am both potty trained (however I seriously dislike going outside when its raining or snowing) and puppy pad trained, so an apartment or house would work for me. I would prefer a home with no kids or with older kids who would be respectful of my small size and not be too rough with me. Another dog would probably be fine as long as they are not rough with me, although a smaller dog (30 lb or less) would be my preference.
