Personality


I love hanging with my humans (I especially love it, if they are on the couch or the bed!!!), going for walks, meeting new people, and going for car rides (I am trying to convince my foster mom that putting the leash on and going outside ONLY means we go for a car ride, but I have not been too successful on this yet).

Despite the typical bassett hound reputation, I am very agile and I love to run -- my foster mom thinks that one of these days, I am going to get enough speed that my big floppy ears are going to lift me right off the ground!

So far I have trained my humans to give me treats, when I go into my kennel or touch their fingers.  I have also discovered that I get treats when I put my butt on the ground.


Socialization


Does the dog like other pets?
        I am ok with dogs with careful introductions.  I like dogs that don't get in my face, that will be respectful of me, and will let me be the boss.  If I had a chance to be an only dog I would be ok with that as well.  I like to run the fence with my neighbor dogs and when I am out for a walk I will sometimes talk to them.

Does the dog like children?
        I have not met any kids yet, so I am not sure if I like them as well as I like adults (look for updates as my foster mom gets me out and about).

General social placement notes:
        I am a human magnet: not only am I so cute, that humans can't help but pet me, but I am drawn to them as well: my favorite place to be is where my humans are.  I am a very confident little girl and as of yet, I have not found a human that I DON'T like!  My foster mom says that I make a little too much noise when I cannot be with my human, but I am learning to settle down.


Favorite Toys


I have not found a toy yet that is more interesting than humans, although my foster mom keeps trying to engage me with them.  I have discovered that I do like to chew on appropriate chew things.
