Wash-a-Thon April 2008 Minimize

Thank you to everyone who made April's Wash-A-Thon our most successful ever!

This month's Wash-A-Thon brought in 58 dogs and close to $1300 dollars, that's a new record! It was so successful that we even attracted two news stations! Channels 5/30 and Channel 11 both filmed the event! We are very grateful to everyone who worked the event, everyone who brought dogs in to be washed and especially to Wag N' Wash, for providing the opportunity!

Clem - The Movie

Our staff teamed up to give four of our foster dogs some extra fun: the challenge was 30 new locations, with extra points for costumes, creativity, themes, and presentation. Clementine's team did a terrific job, and turned their picture album into a great video! You can check it out on YouTube by clicking here, or play it below.

Previous Update

Princess had her heart surgery Jan. 17th.  The procedure went great.  Dr. DeVitt was able to orthoscopically repair her heart, so she didn't have to be cut open : ).  She does have two incisions about the diameter of an index finger  Princess is recovering at the veterinarians through Saturday morning.  She will need to take it easy for a couple of weeks.  Dr. DeVitt said don't be surprised to see an increase in activity level after the surgery.  Oh my gosh, I can't imagine her having MORE energy.  The staff at Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado were awesome.  They took such good care of Princess.  It's obvious they truly care about their patients.

Princess Update

Hello everyone!

Wow, alot has happened since I last wrote.

The procedure that was hoped would fix my heart problem was unsuccessful.  The humans tried really hard to make it work, but my anatomy was too small for the device to fit into my heart.  Now, I have to have open heart surgery.  My foster mom says we are planning that for sometime in January.  I'm not looking forward to more vet office visits.  I know they mean well, but the humans there really scare me.  I don't like what they do to me.

On the bright side, my foster mom says that once my heart is fixed I'll then be able to go to the best "forever" home.  I'll live with humans that are kind and gentle with me.  We'll play, go for walks, cuddle on the couch, go to training.  Then she tells me, I will be a "lively, loving companion"  (I'm not sure what that means, but I think it is good!).

Life continues to be wonderful since All Breed Rescue and Training saved me.  I still love to play with my ball, or any toy that happens to cross my path.  Cats, my favorite toy...wait, my foster mom says that ISN'T a toy...sure looks like a toy to me.  Don't tell my foster mom, but the cat and I have a deal worked out.  I chase her, she runs, we play, repeat sequence.  Humans just don't understand the concept of "toy".

I wish all dogs could be so lucky, and be given a second chance to part of loving human pack.

I wish you all a Merry Holiday and Happy Healthy New Year.

hugs and kisses,

Princess

p.s.

I'll let you know when I get scheduled for surgery in January, and of course when I'm home recuperating.
