Fostering Saves Lives

Fostering is the heart of our rescue. As a foster-based organization, we can only save as many dogs as we have committed homes available — every foster makes it possible for another dog to get a second chance. Many of the dogs we take in need extra patience, structure, and support, and our team is there to guide you every step of the way with training resources and ongoing help. By opening your home, you’re giving a dog the safe space they need to heal, learn, and prepare for their forever family. 🐾

Fostering Through ABRT

Fostering is...

When you foster a dog with All Breed Rescue & Training, you open up your heart and your house to a pup in need.

Becoming a foster means that you temporarily take one of our rescue dogs into your home while they await their forever family.

Your foster dog may be with you for as few as two to three weeks, or as long as a few months to a few years. Our Adoption Team understands the needs of the dogs that we rescue, and will try their hardest to match a dog with your time frame. On average, you should anticipate your foster being with you for a few months.

We have high expectations for our foster dogs and their foster families! Many of the dogs that we rescue have training or behavior work requirements. Being able to attend a weekly class or private training session is often a must with our dogs. Please keep that in mind when anticipating the time commitment!

Why Foster...

ABRT relies on foster families to provide housing for dogs in between with time that they enter our Adoption Program until they are adopted to their forever families. Without the support and dedication of our foster families, ABRT could not rescue dogs!

There are many reasons that people foster dogs with ABRT: Maybe you have the puppy bug (or are just generically afraid of commitment), but you don't feel ready to have your own dog for the next 10 to 15 years. Maybe you have recently lost a companion, and want to help out a doggo in need but do not feel ready to add a permanent member to your family.

Maybe you are in the military, and while you are interested in a dog you are unsure about your long term living situation.

Or maybe because you're just nice.

Whatever your reason, fostering with ABRT helps a dog along their journey towards their forever home. It's an invaluable gift to give to a soul in need. Plus, the warm fuzzies that you get are incomparable!

Dog Walkers WANTED!

We’re always looking for dedicated volunteers to help care for the foster dogs staying at our facility! Our volunteer dog walkers play a huge role in keeping our pups happy and healthy by helping with feeding, walking, enrichment, and playtime throughout the day. We offer AM, midday, and PM shifts every day to fit a variety of schedules. Because many of our dogs need time to build trust and feel comfortable with new people, we are especially looking for reliable, committed volunteers who can show up consistently and form meaningful relationships with the dogs in our care. If you’re passionate about making a difference in a dog’s daily life, we would love to have you on the team.

Upkeep That Builds Community

A clean environment helps our dogs learn and feel safe while creating a positive experience for clients, adopters, and visitors. This role is perfect for dependable, detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and want to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes.
